11th Grade History Teacher Cohort Information – 2019-2020
Various 11th Grade History Teacher Cohorts are developing across California to guide teachers in developing content knowledge and pedagogy in teaching LGBTQ History. Each cohort includes a beginning workshop, teachers teaching LGBTQ lessons and an ending workshop with support webinars in between. Only cost is teacher time and sub days. Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties Cohort – January 23, April 27, 2020 at Monterey County Office of Education. Register Here
Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties Cohort – February 5, April 29, 2020 at Santa Clara County Office of Education. Register Here
Online Cohort. Region 1 (Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, and Sonoma Counties) and Region 6 (San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties). January 23, 30, February 6, March 19, 26, 2020. Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm. All meetings online. Register Here.
- January 9, 4pm -Information Webinar for Online Cohort. – Webinar Registration. Provides background information and answer questions from administrators and/or teachers. Teachers may still sign up following the webinar if space is available.
More Cohort Info
- Teachers commit to meet on cohort dates, teach at least one LGBTQ history lesson, and have students fill out an anonymous survey about the lesson taught.
- Teachers receive a printed LGBTQ history curriculum guide for 11th grade aligned with California State History Social Science Framework and Standards. Includes suggested lesson plans and resources.
- Teachers will gain LGBTQ history content knowledge, teaching strategies, how to integrate content with history curriculum already taught.
- Teacher cohorts from across the state will have the opportunity to communicate with other teachers and discuss best practices.
Optional CEU Units are available for additional cost.
